Benefits of Brazilian Butt Lift

BBL in Scottsdale & Mesa

Brazilian butt lift (BBL) is a great surgical option for patients who seek a pleasantly shaped buttocks with an impressive lower body profile. Here, experienced Phoenix-area plastic surgeon Dr. Genaro Valladolid explains the benefits of a BBL procedure, how it is performed and what to expect with your final result.

The size and shape of your butt is largely dictated by your genetic makeup, and more specifically the way in which your body stores fat. People who try to achieve a Brazilian look without surgery will probably wind up disappointed, because simply putting on weight will likely change your entire body’s proportions, not just the butt’s.

Brazilian butt lift harvests fat from other areas such as the thighs, abdomen and hips (areas where it is often hardest to take off weight even with diet and exercise) and moves it to the buttocks. Not only does this procedure augment the size of the butt, it also changes the overall shape and proportions.

Natural Contours

In a BBL procedure, the artistry of your surgeon is as important as the precision of the technique. With an eye to balance and proportion — and a dash of Brazilian flair — Dr. Valladolid sculpts an unforgettable profile with strategic transfers of fat and subtle enhancement of your natural contours.

Because it uses your own fat cells, Brazilian butt lift is a less invasive surgery than butt implants, and the results generally look and feel better. That said, Dr. Valladolid may recommend implants for thin patients who want a butt augmentation since they may not have an ample amount of fat to transfer from other parts of the body.

Fat Transfer

Before being injected back into your body, the fat collected for BBL is filtered and purified. While fat transfers have been performed successfully for decades, contemporary techniques make it safer than ever. Being an expert at the procedure, Dr. Valladolid will account for the portion of fat cells the body will naturally reabsorb amidst the transfer.

For this outpatient procedure, Dr. Valladolid offers local anesthetic, IV sedation or full anesthesia — whatever the patient feels most comfortable with. Patients may experience some discomfort during recovery, with the biggest inconvenience for most being that you are not supposed to sit down or lie on your back for about two weeks.

Patients are generally cleared to return to work in 10 to 14 days, though exercise should be done in moderation for the first couple of months. The results of the surgery, which should last for years to come, will be appear approximately six months after the surgery was performed.
